Building Better Biceps

If you are unhappy with the state of your biceps, it may be simply that you are failing to truly isolate them when you do your bicep exercises. With bicep curls especially, it is very easy to cheat and use a swaying motion to jerk the weight upwards. Many people thrust forward with their pelvis and move their elbows upwards at the same time when doing curls, which removes most of the pressure from the biceps. If you exercise in this fashion, you will never achieve the results you desire. But, if you are doing your curls properly and still not growing, then I have three novel biceps exercises which may help you stimulate new growth.

1. Lying Cable Curl - Lie on the floor with your feet against a low cable pulley machine. Grab a bar and simply curl the weight up towards your chest. This move is useful because it is hard to cheat when lying on the floor.

2. Incline Dumbbell Curl - An oldie, but a goodie. Sit on an incline bench with a dumbbell in each hand. Curl them up simultaneously, then slowly lower them. Another exercise where it is hard to cheat due to the fact that you are seated.

3. Preacher Curl - These are simply dumbbell or barbell curls done on a preacher bench. Yet another (notice a pattern here?) exercise where you cannot cheat by swaying.

Throw a couple of these exercises into your biceps routine to stimulate new growth. The fact that it is very hard to cheat on these movements makes them excellent ways to get the biceps of your dreams.
